According to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, each owner of real estate is obliged to pay state tax for this property once a year. Since the payment deadline is very close - June 30th, we decided to inform you about this topic in advance. Below we have listed some aspects that you should pay attention to.

 
Property tax payment deadline

According to fiscal legislation, tax notices for payment of real estate are sent by the tax service and the local tax collection serviceuntil June 30 of the current year.
                                                                       
Important: If you took possession of the property after March 31 of the current financial year, tax payment notices are sent no later than February 1 of the following year.

What properties are subject to tax?
According to the Fiscal Monitor, payment of tax is mandatory for all owners of:
• land located within or outside villages;
• buildings;
• buildings;
• apartments;
• other isolated premises, the movement of which is impossible without causing damage to their purpose;
• real estate at the stage of completion of construction 50% or more, remaining unfinished within 3 years after the start of construction work.

 

Tax amount calculation
For individuals, the amount of real estate tax is calculated annually by the tax and local tax collection service, and the amount of the tax itself varies depending on the locality.

 

Payment of property taxes
After receiving a payment notice, each taxpayer has several ways to pay the appropriate tax:
• any branch of any commercial bank;
• any post office;
• online – through the state electronic payment system www.mpay.gov.md, without the need for an electronic signature.

Important: at the same time, if you have an electronic signature, you can generate a payment notification and make a payment through the SIA Payer Account

Partial tax exemption
Based on the new provisions of the Tax Code, some categories of citizens are partially exempt from paying this tax. These categories are as follows:
• people of retirement age, people with severe and severe disabilities, people with childhood disabilities, people with moderate disabilities (participants in combat operations to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, participants in combat operations in Afghanistan, participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident), as well as persons who were repressed and subsequently rehabilitated);
• families of participants who died in hostilities to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, and the persons they supported;
• families of military personnel killed in combat in Afghanistan and those who supported them;
• families with disabled children under the age of 18, and family members who support and constantly care for disabled people;
• families of persons who died as a result of illnesses caused by their participation in the work to eliminate the consequences of the accident at Ts.A.E. Chernobyl and the people they supported.
